Landscape - Our Commitment to the Land

We belong to this land as much as it belongs to us. To be in relationship with it is to feel responsible for it. To care for it. That belief is at the heart of everything Landscape stands for - and it shaped every decision made in the design and construction.

The Building

Landscape has been built to the highest environmental standards achievable in Ireland today. The building holds an A BER rating - the highest energy rating band possible. The entire roof is covered with photovoltaic solar panels generating 85kW of power, maximising the building's use of natural energy. A highly efficient biogas-powered Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system works alongside the solar panels to significantly reduce the building's reliance on the national grid.

Together, these systems reduce electrical grid imports from approximately 800,000kWh to 350,000kWh annually, reduce the maximum import capacity from the grid from 175kVA to 120kVA, and reduce operational carbon emissions by nearly 60% - from 1,625,400kg CO₂ to 655,000kg CO₂.

The building also draws on its own on-site groundwater well for supplementary water supply, reducing dependence on mains water.

Where possible, existing building fabric was retained and reused during construction, avoiding the release of embedded carbon. Accoya timber was used throughout - a material that provides unrivalled benefits for carbon storage in the built environment, making it one of the few sustainable building materials available today.

The building itself was designed to sit within the natural landscape rather than impose upon it, ensuring the protection and enhancement of the natural surrounding habitats.
